In this newsletter:
1- WHY TEXT BASED?
2-WHY THIS FIRST NEWSLETTER?
3-FORTHCOMING BOOKS
4-A FAINT WHISPER ABOUT A SEKRIT PROJECT

Hello! I'm going to get right to it. . .

1- WHY TEXT BASED?

I'm going to try out this fairly simple newsletter module. On the admin side of things, I was told this newsletter is always in plain text because not all email software is set to accept code. I don't think that's very true in this day and age, but code has been disabled for these. No matter! Who needs fancy pictures and graphics? We mostly want the LETTER, right? Is this old school? Yeah, but so was the newsletter, way back when. Click on a link or two and you're right on the website with all the pretties, anyway.

2-WHY THIS FIRST NEWSLETTER?

I'm doing this first one mostly so I can have an archived newsletter on the site. If I don't start with something to look at, then . . .

3-FORTHCOMING BOOKS

If you go to the main page of the website, these will always be listed, and the most current forthcoming books in production will have cover thumbnails, clickable to order pages (preorder or otherwise) But let's face it: we don't always remember to go and check the site. Hence, the newsletter can give you notice in your email.

So what's on the horizon?

F. Brett Cox's short story collection THE END OF ALL OUR EXPLORING, which, by the way, just received a starred Publishers Weekly review! It'll be out in August. Here's the description: The stories in F. Brett Cox’s debut collection move through multiple genres and many times and places, from the monsters of the 19th century to the future fields of war, from New England to the South to the American West, from the strange house at the top of the hill to the bottom of your childhood swimming pool. But whatever the time and place, and whether utterly fantastic or all too real, all of these remarkable fictions pose the fundamental question: what’s next? THE END OF ALL OUR EXPLORING features 27 stories, and it also includes Cox’s unique historical notes.

Through our Kudzu Planet Productions imprint, we present the next Michael Bishop title, a collection entitled THE SACERDOTAL OWL AND THREE OTHER LONG TALES. It gathers four of Michael Bishop's unusual longer stories, from different stages of his almost fifty-year career, into a single remarkable volume. Open THE SACERDOTAL OWL at any story, in any order, and discover the brave, far-ranging, unpredictable talent of Michael Bishop writing at his best at these longer lengths in four exciting subgenres of the SF and fantasy fields.

We've also announcing a reprint of Ken Rand's amazingly popular THE 10% SOLUTION for its 20th Anniversary. It's hard to believe it's been that long, but this little-book-that-could has been helping writers for a long time. The new edition boasts a new cover and a new introduction by SFWA president Cat Rambo.

4-A FAINT WHISPER ABOUT A SEKRIT PROJECT

A new book, of course! But what, pray tell? All I can tell you at this point is it will be out in the fall (October to be more specific) and will be an extra special title. I can also hint that quantities will be LIMITED. I don't know why. Hmm, perhaps because some author will sign them all or something? Stay tuned!
